Technical features

The analysis system consists of a photometric technology analyser, available in two items, and a set of dedicated, ready-to-use reagent kits developed by CDR chemical laboratories.

An innovative photometric technology

The use of innovative photometric technology has made it possible to optimise and develop new analytical methods for determining important parameters of foods and beverages. The reading cell guarantees high sensitivity, a very wide measuring range and excellent repeatability of the analysis results thanks to innovative LED light sources with fixed wavelengths (ultraviolet – visible spectrum, power up to 6 O.D.).

Online help for analytical procedures

The system is easy and intuitive, everyone can use it in autonomy. Analyses are carried out in just a few steps. In addition, it has a help function that guides you step by step through the operations.

Multitasking Mode

The multitasking mode reduces analysis time. It is possible to perform several analyses simultaneously of the same sample or different determinations of the same parameter on a batch of different samples. During an analysis session you can start another one and put the first one in the background. You can return to background analysis with one click.

Internal memory

The analyser is equipped with an internal memory capable of storing thousands of analysis results that can be viewed on the display or exported via the USB or Ethernet port.

Barcode and QR Code Reader

The systems of CDR FoodLab® range handle barcode or QR code readers.

The sample code is automatically displayed on the analyser. It is possible to associate all the analyses performed on that sample.

Connection to a host computer or intranet

You can share analysis results by connecting the analyser to your intranet via the Ethernet port or export them by connecting the analyser via the USB port to the host computer.

Free of service and maintenance costs

No calibration is necessary because the instrument is supplied pre-calibrated. The analysers use LED light sources and therefore no periodic maintenance is required.

SYSTEM

The analytical system includes:

  • A Spectrophotometric Analyzer with solid state emitters (LEDs) and reading and incubation cells thermostated at 37° C.
  • A Kit of pre-vialed, disposable reagents with a low toxicity developed by the research laboratories of CDR and a 12-month shelf-life.
  • Pipettes to simplify the collection of the samples.
  • Print Manager: software that enables the connection of the analyser to the PC in order to store and print the results of the tests.
  • Operator’s manual and functional illustrated sheets.

ANALYSIS

PalmOilTester is able to test raw palm oil and Kernel Palm Oil and provides the following information:

  • Free Fatty Acids 1 minute
  • Peroxide Value 4 minutes
  • DOBI & Carotene 6 minutes
  • Iodine Value 2 minutes
  • p-Anisidine 2 minutes

This system significantly reduces testing time because it enables to test up to 16 samples simultaneously, which means that it is possible to perform 80 FFA tests, 70 Peroxide Value tests, 40 Iodine Value tests and 40 p-Anisidine Value tests in an hour.

ADVANTAGES

Simple Methods

PalmOilTester analytical methods are simpler and faster as compared to traditional ones. Tests can be performed in a few simple steps:

  1. Heat the palm oil, which is solid at room temperature.
  2. Select the parameter to measure from the menu: the system automatically selects the correct wavelength.
  3. Use the supplied pipette to add the correct volume of reagent and sample, then mix.
  4. Follow the displayed instructions.
  5. The result is automatically calculated in a few minutes, displayed and printed by means of the on-board printer.

No Technical Support and Maintenance Expenses

  • Unlike NIR systems or other photometric systems, this system does not require regular calibrations: it is supplied pre-calibrated, although the calibration parameters can be changed quickly and simply.
  • The system does not require costly spare parts: the analyser uses LED luminous sources and does not therefore require the maintenance that is usually needed for photometers with tungsten luminous filaments. The absence of moving parts eliminates the risk of damages.

PalmOilTester and its analytical methods have been subjected to comparative tests by several agencies like Indelab sdn. Bhd. Malaysia, Member Analyst to FOSFA INTERNATIONAL. Tests have demonstrated a good alignment with official AOACS methods.

Solid Documentation

PalmOilTester is supplied with a DVD that contains videos of the methods, which are useful to learn quickly how to perform the tests and obtain the most accurate results.
