Bulkhead connector is a term used to define a mounting style of connectors. These devices are designed to be inserted into a panel cutout from the rear or the front side of the panel.

The Bulkhead Connectors are accurately molded of nylon or polypropylene material. The nylon bulkheads are available in black or white while the polypropylene bulkheads are gray. These devices are regarded as a kind of coupler, which normally passes pipes or cables through a bulkhead, as such they have two connection sets; one for each side of the bulkhead. To ease making the hole they are usually come in cylindrical shape, with a nut or thread at both ends which is basically for securing the connections to the connection. They have then got a flange or securing nut to hold the bulkhead connection in place through the bulkhead. At times, there’s just single pin, socket or pipe through the connection, sometimes there are plenty of them. There are some which are specially designed to allow a multi-wire cable to pass through a bulkhead.

Also, there is Medical connector that is used in all aspects of the medical profession: it is used in hospitals, clinics, and other centers. They are specially designed and constructed for the security of patients and hospital personnel. These connectors may also be used in distributing medication to a patient in a safe and convenient way.  Moreover, there is AC power connector which transfers alternating current through a variety of electronic devices. This kind of connector includes simple AC inlets, outlets, and power entry modules. Next is the Coaxial connector which is composed of an insulated central conducting wire wrapped in another cylindrical conductor or the shield. Its cable is usually wrapped in another insulating layer and an outer protective layer. Coaxial cables and connectors have the capacity to carry huge quantities of information.

Bulkhead connector come in several types depending on their usage. There is what we call USB connector that is used with universal serial bus or USB ports. They can be used either to connect USB products together or to connect USB wires and peripherals to other standard port types.   Another one is Tube fitting which connects runs of tubing for in-line, offset, multi-port, and mounting configurations to other tubing sections, pipe, hose, and other fluid transfer apparatus.  Next is the Circular connector which is a multi pin connector primarily used for external interfacing.  Then, comes Military or (MIL-SPEC) connector built in accordance with military specifications. This particular type of bulkhead connector design takes into consideration the need to protect the connection from environmental factors, enabling them to be used in military and aerospace applications.
