Sampling protocol for carcasses with sponge associated to template (10 x 10 cm)

  • Place the sterile template over the test area on the carcass,
  • Put a pair of sterile gloves or use the sampling bag as a glove by turning it inside out and grasping the sponge through the bag
  • Wipe the sponge over the test surface, sample by rubbing,e.g. firstly horizontally then vertically, 10 times in each direction,
  • After swabbing, place the sponge back in its sampling

  • Pre-moistened version: various diluents depending on your usual practices: buffered peptone water, tryptone salt broth, ringer’s solution.
